It's hot here in this state, very hot. When moving to California last year I was dreading what the heat would be like, I never thought I'd be living someplace even hotter. Interestingly, even though it's filthy hot here the buildings/homes are ridiculously cool, sometimes cold. Coming from the northern section of the US, it seemed southerners took pride in their ability to endure the heat, nay, embrace it. Further, not only do the rebels claim to love the heat so much but also that cold weather is downright intolerable. On the contrary, I see a contradiction in their claim, namely: air conditioning.
I dare to say that cities such as Houston and Phoenix wouldn't exist as the thriving metropoli that they are if not for the sweet sweet invention of the AC. It's curious that advocates of this extreme southern weather, would be so dependent upon one magical machine to the extent that exposure to the natural elements would be limited to the distance between car and building. Not only is there a dependency but there is an almost glutonous use of it. Why keep buildings at 72 or bellow when it's over 100 outside?
Now, granted there is a double standard that I've drawn against myself in that northerners require some form of artificial heat. However, in the winter houses are kept, I would guess, somewhere in the upper 60's. Compared to keeping the house at say...80. Also contrastingly, fire produces heat. Since fire was invented well, quite a while ago, I think it's fair to call fire a natural source of heat.
Follwing this logic: souterners are survial dependent on machines for artificial cooling, while northerners depend on natural sources of heat for survival. Therefore, southerners are slaves to machines while northerns are autonomous and free.
In conclusion, southerners are slaves once again and their masters are machines.
I'm looking forward to the next social revival.
